The Grand Total

I forgot to post this before we left, so I'm posting it now. I went a total of 75 miles and I lost 2.4 pounds. Total earned = $100. Matt's totals: 29 miles and 6 pounds lost. Total earned = $90

My Name Is Wendy, and I'm A Slacker

Don't worry, I did not fall off the face of the Earth. I've just been a slacker. So I'll do a quick catch up since I last left you hanging...

Last Wednesday and Thursday I didn't exercise (I had a cold and I REALLY needed to clean my house.) But on Friday I did. I ran the long sides of a soccer filed and walked the short sides running a total of 1 mile.

My "good eating" went to pot for a few days so I took the weekend off, then back to the grind on Monday.

I was going to run, but I ended up speed walking for 2 miles.

Today I REALLY didn't want to exercise. Not even in the slightest. But I decided to run/walk a quick mile just to get it over and done with.  So now my grand total is 71.51.

Tummy Tuck

Tummy tuck. That's the name of the class I did today at the gym. (Made you think something else didn't I) It was ok. We did things that you would find on pretty much any "abs" workout video you'd find at the store. I felt it in my thighs, and I will probably be sore tomorrow. I'm not sure I like the "workout class" environment. It's nice and all, I'm just VERY self conscious right now and being in front of a class full of skinny people and mirrors that make me look HUGE is not really my cup of tea. I liked visiting with other adults (since I don't do that as much as I should) and meeting new people is always fun. But I know that I am the only one who can push myself. So we'll see if I continue with my gym membership or not. Anyways...another 4 miles on my journey to San Fran. My total now is 67.51. Slowly getting closer....

Feeling Down...

Yesterday was not as good of a day as I would have hoped for. I woke up feeling down (I have depression, so this isn't TOO uncommon, even though I've been taking meds.) Anyways...I was feeling discouraged because I've been working out and eating better for about 3 weeks now, and my body doesn't seem to be reflecting ANY of that. All my clothes still fit the same and I still look the same in the mirror. Needless to say, I was not at the top of my game. I did eat a salad for lunch-after I had 2 doughnuts of course.

Later that day I went and got "foot zoned" (which is like reflexology, but a little different.) My sister-in-law is the one that zoned me, and we discussed about how I need to be drinking more water and to keep eating fruits and veggies. Sometimes that is easier said then done.

After being zoned, I was talking to my sister about my discouragement and she brought up a good though. She said, "If there was a magic pill that you could take that would give you the energy you need and the motivation you want without harming your body, would you take it?" "Yeah." "Our Father in Heaven can help you with that." Then she shared an experience when she prayed to have some physical help at the time, and her prayers were answered. So I took that to heart. Later that night I had Matt give me a priesthood blessing for comfort and guidance. It really helped. In the blessing it was mentioned that I would have the desire of my heart and that I would be able to figure what I should be eating to satisfy myself as well as keeping in tune with the commandments of the Lord. That was a good thing to hear. Especially since I was considering doing some sort of "crash diet" or "weight loss pills". (Not saying that those are bad-I've done them before-But they do not work for my body.) It helped give me strength to stick with eating better and to endure-since it will take time.

So I am back on track, and hopefully will have the right momentum moving forward.

I Beleive I Can Fly...Gym.

I tried out fly-gym today. It was fun. Its hard to explain though. It's like exercising with stretchy fabric that you can sit in and hang on. I was sweating for sure. I ended up doing a back bend (with the help of the fabric) My back DOES NOT bend that way! So another 4 miles for me. That makes my total now 63.51. Getting closer and closer to 100 miles. Slowly...

Insanity Anyone?

So on Friday I didn't feel up to doing the treadmill and the weather was to rainy for a bike ride, so I decided to do the fit test on Insanity. (Like P90X but more...insane) I actually did pretty good for not having done it for a million years. I am sore today, but it's probably more from aerial class. It's a good thing that I take the weekends to rest and recover. Anyway...I can add another 2 miles to my journey, which then puts me at 59.51 miles down. Man, sometimes it feels like This is taking forever to get miles, while other times I am surprised at how many I have so far.

Filppin' Bike!

Catchy title right?! Too bad it has nothing to do with bikes flipping. But it does have to do with me flipping! I tried another aerial silks class! I did better this time. It probably had to do with the fact that I sort of new what I was doing this time.  Anyway...I hurt my ankle-but hopefully it will get better soon. But the good news is...I flipped over! Woohoo! So, another 4 miles down. Then I decided to go on a bike ride with my friend. We went a whoppin' total of 4.22 miles. So that makes total of 57.51 on my journey. I'm hoping to go at least 100 miles before we leave for San Fran. That seems doable right?

Interesting Bike Ride

I got up this morning and decided to see if I could ride my bike to my sister's house. Her house is roughly 8 miles away. It was cold, windy and I was pulling my son behind me. But I made it! It took me an hour to go 7.79 miles. Way to go me! I was totally pumped to ride home-pulling 3 kids now. When I went 20ft and one of my petals fell off. Long story short, a nice grandpa man gave me and the kids a ride home. I am thankful for the kindness of strangers. So now my grand total at 49.29. (My inner OCD is very bothered that its not an even 50...yet) I am past 1/17th of the way to San Fran!

Hula For You-la?

I attempted a hula class. My body is not made for hula. It was...interesting. Not sure if I'll do it again or not. But I did earn another $4..um I mean another 4 miles on my journey! My grand total is now 41.5 with 763.5 to go.

Crazy Fitness Friday

My day started off normal. I decided to tone for 15 mins. (which equal 1 mile) then walk for a mile. That would bring my total to 27 miles.  I headed to 'kids group' and that's when I lost my  mind. I agreed to go with my friend on a 10 mile bike ride (she jogged while I rode. I pulled 2 kids, she pushed 2 kids) We did pretty good, but we only were able to make it for 8 1/2 miles. Which isn't too shabby. Then my hubby came home and decided we should go on ANOTHER bike ride! That was another 2 miles added to my day. Which makes my daily total 12 1/2. My grand total now is 37 1/2 miles. Crazy!

Wanna Ride?

My kids and I decided to go out on a bike ride tonight. I thought it would help ease my sore muscles. (I read online that getting the blood flow helps sore muscles) We rode a total of 5 1/2 miles. I'm so tired now and my rump still hurts. Oh well. So now my grand total is...25 MILES!!! Only 780 to go! Woo Hoo!

Wednesday Workout

So some ladies in my neighborhood get together on Wednesdays to workout. I decided to join them. Bad idea. My butt and thighs are so sore! Plus side I earned 2 more miles. Which makes my total so far to 19.5 miles.

Sore Today, Gone Tomorrow

My arms are sore from my workout yesterday-which I'm told is a good thing. My abs are still sore from my aerial silks experiment, so it makes me wonder how long my arms will be sore for. ANYWAY...Today I did 30 mins of toning, which equals 2 miles. Then I did a mile on the treadmill, for a total of 3 miles. I am so tired. My grand total is: 17.5 miles in my journey and 787.5 to go.

Starting A New Week

This morning I decided to switch it up a little. I did toning exercises for 15 minuets (which equal one mile) then I jogged/speed walk at 8 incline for another mile. So starting this week I have a total of 2 miles and an overall grand total of 14.5 in my "journey" to San Francisco.

A Family Affair

Today turned out to be a good day, considering it started out overcast and raining (which I actually don't mind at all). But the sun came out and it warmed up so we took another family bike ride. We rode to a park then picked up dinner and came home. All together it was a total of 3.5 miles. Yes my legs were achy and my abs were sore, but it was fun. Grand total: 12.5 miles so far this week.

No Kicking or Screaming Involved

So I woke up this morning sore from my fun workout yesterday and thought to myself, "I'm just going to take it easy today." The for some unexpected reason I thought, "maybe I'll just run 2 miles and finish off the week with a nice round number (10 miles)" I MUST BE GOING CRAZY!!! So I changed into my workout out clothes, got Carson all set up with a movie and food, then looked at the time...9:28...then it hit me...I HAVE A MEETING AT 10! Great. Now what? Do I run and go to my meeting smelly? Should I run after? Maybe I'll pass on running today-but I already have my shoes on and I'm ready to go. What to do, what to do...So I ran! (Well, jogged/speed walked) I made it one mile before I needed to stop and go shower. NOW I can take it easy for the rest of the day. :) (although I really should do some cleaning...) My grand total on my "journey" so far this week is 9 miles, that's not so bad considering I'm not one who likes to exercise.

Aerial Silks Level One

I attempted and survived my first aerial silks class today.

Expectation:

Reality:

Yep, that's about what I looked like, but with out the squish mat under me and with A LOT more flailing of my arm and swaying of my body. But it was fun and I would do it again. (maybe after I get some more upper body strength) And since I worked out for and hour, I earned 4 more miles to my "journey". Which makes a grand total of 8 miles down 797 ish to go.

Fit Family

So yesterday we decided to get Subway for dinner-the catch-we had to bike ride there. According to the map on my phone, Subway is exactly 1 mile away from my house. Not bad. So we put the younger 2 in the chariot while Matt, Hayden and I rode. Matt pulled the chariot there, I pulled it back. It was actually a pleasant bike ride. It was a fun bonding family time. And plus, it gained 2 more miles on my "journey". So I am now at a grand total of 4 miles! woo hoo!

Up And Running...again

So I have started running again. My husband and I are going to San Francisco for our 10 year anniversary! He mentioned that he wanted to shed some weight before we go so that if we find some clothes we want to buy then we will feel good in them. So I decided to go along with it. (It helped that he said that I'd earn $10 per pound lost and $1 for every mile ran) Well, on with it...

Starting Day: March 24th 2013 (Yeah, I know it's almost been a year)
Starting weight: 179.8 (YIKES!)

We started eating better this week, but because of sickness I didn't feel like exercising.

Weigh In Day: April 1st 2013
Weight: 179.0 (down .8)

I have decided to "run" to San Francisco (or as far as I can before we leave). If I go the route we are planning on driving then San Fran is 805 miles away (MAN that would be A LOT of money to spend all on clothes!) So, 2 miles down-803 to go. We are leaving in about 6 weeks so...doing the math...I would have to "run" 26 miles a day to get there by the time we leave. HA HA HA HA, like that's going to happen! So I guess I'll just have to see how far I make it before I leave.

Side note: 15 minuets of non-running exercise=1 mile of "running". Those miles are going to be applied to me total run.
